1. We live in a world with man y broken systems and corrupt governments. Think back to the 2008 mortgage debacle, or Venezuela and Zimbabwe hyperinflation, The Crisis in Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain. All of these can be traced back to a corrupt and manipulated monetary system. A paper fiat system backed by nothing but a promise to pay. Bottomline there is a world wide demand for something different and Cryptocurrencies ahve offered an alternative.
2. Speculation and FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) these people don't understand how broken the system is they just see a way to make money. These are the folks who help cause bubbles.
3. People want a way to move money easily, cheaply and securely. Right now we rely on banks, money transfer agents, etc. Think cash and how easy it is to buy something from your neighbor and you give him $20. There is no fees or delays. Now think about an ACH you sen dthe money, they charge you a fee and it takes 5 days?
